Description

Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang In "Yellowface," Rebecca F. Kuang presents a searing exploration of cultural appropriation and the complexities of the publishing industry. When June Hayward, a struggling white writer, witnesses the sudden death of her successful Asian American friend, Athena Liu, she makes a split-second decision to steal Athena’s just-completed manuscript. As June assumes Athena's identity and publishes the book under a pseudonym, she is thrust into the literary spotlight. However, as the facade starts to crumble, June faces the repercussions of her deceit. Kuang's gripping narrative delves into the themes of authorship, authenticity, and the moral complexities of storytelling.

Butter by Asako Yuzuki Asako Yuzuki's "Butter" offers a poignant and heartfelt story set in contemporary Japan. The novel centers on the intertwined lives of two women: Rin, a culinary genius with a troubled past, and Rika, a journalist seeking to uncover Rin's story. When Rika is assigned to write about Rin, she discovers a tale of passion, redemption, and the power of food to heal and connect.
