At Axelbooks.com, we strive to ensure that all our customers have a satisfactory shopping experience. However, there may be occasions when you need to return an item.
To initiate a return, please begin by writing a cover letter that includes your order reference number. Return the item(s) along with the cover letter, invoice, and goods to the following address:
Axel Books Limited
Unit 31 Vulcan House Business Centre Vulcan Road
We recommend using a tracked postal service for your return. On the invoice, please clearly indicate the reason for the return and whether you would like a refund or an exchange. Please note that we can only exchange items for the same product.
Returning an unwanted item?
If you require a full refund, including the original delivery costs, the entire order must be returned to us within fourteen (14) working days. Please note that you will be responsible for the return shipping costs. Once we receive the returned goods, we will process the refund as soon as possible, typically within fourteen (14) days.
The goods do not need to be in their original packaging but should be in a sellable condition. You will bear the cost and risk of returning the goods.
If you return goods claiming they are defective, we will examine the items and notify you of your refund via email within a reasonable period. We will process the refund for defective goods within thirty (30) days of confirming your eligibility for a refund.
If a refund or reimbursement is due, we will use the same payment method originally used for the purchase. In cases where we cannot refund through the original payment method, we will issue a cheque to the address provided in the order.
While the goods are in your possession, you have a legal obligation to take reasonable care of them. Failure to comply with this obligation may result in us seeking compensation from you. This obligation applies to all returned goods.
Please note that returns on items with removed shrink-wrap will not be accepted. If you attempt to return such an item, we may have to send it back to your default delivery address and request that you cover the delivery costs. All returned items are subject to inspection.
Our returns policy does not affect your statutory rights.
We take pride in offering incredible prices and promotional offers on a wide range of products. To minimize delivery costs, we recommend our Standard UK delivery service, which may result in longer delivery times. If you require faster delivery, please select our Express Services, and we will prioritize the picking, dispatch, and delivery of your order using one of our premium couriers.
For goods weighing less than 2kg, we primarily use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service. All other goods are delivered by a courier. Approximately 90% of our deliveries are made through Royal Mail, as they provide excellent service and coverage across the UK.
Most deliveries within mainland UK take 2 to 3 days, and our dispatch time is typically within 24 hours of placing the order.
We also offer an express service option, which delivers within 2 working days (Monday to Friday).
International delivery is handled by DPD and can take between 5 to 15 days.
Brexit Custom Charges
For deliveries outside of the UK, import duties may be levied on the goods upon reaching the destination country. You are responsible for paying any charges related to custom clearance, and Axel Books cannot cover these additional fees. We strongly advise you to consult your customs officials to understand and avoid unexpected charges.
If you choose to return the parcel without paying the custom charges through the DPD site, you will be liable for the return charges we incur with DPD.
If you are a consumer from the UK/EU, you have the legal right to cancel your order within fourteen (14) days from the receipt of the goods or the date on which we begin providing services, as per the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. Refunds for orders cancelled under these regulations will be processed in accordance with your legal rights. For detailed information about your statutory rights, we recommend contacting your local authority's Trading Standards department or a consumer advice center such as the Citizens Advice Bureau (for customers in the UK). For non-EU customers, please refer to our returns policy. If you are considering or wish to cancel a product you have ordered, please note the following terms and conditions:
Cancellation rights applicability: The legal rights of cancellation under the Distance Selling Regulations are not applicable to certain products and services, including customised goods, perishable goods, sealed audio or video recordings, or opened software, as well as goods that cannot be returned due to their nature.
Additional cancellation terms: If there are Additional Terms and Conditions of Sale that apply to the product or service you have ordered, they may also govern your cancellation rights. We recommend reviewing these terms carefully.
Damaged or incorrectly supplied products: Upon receiving your order, please check all products against your order. If the products are damaged or incorrectly supplied, you must note the details of the damage or error in supply on the delivery documentation. If you are unable to inspect the items upon receipt, please inform us (via post, phone, or email) within seven days. You must return the products to us as soon as possible after notifying us of the damage or incorrect supply.
Cancellation of other products: If you wish to cancel products that are not damaged or incorrectly supplied, please inform us within seven working days from the date of receipt, following the Distance Selling Regulations or as soon as possible. You must take reasonable care of the products you wish to cancel and refrain from using them. Products should be returned promptly and in their original packaging, at your own cost.
Please note that the above information does not encompass the entirety of your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. For comprehensive details regarding your rights, we recommend contacting your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or your local authority's trading standards office in the UK.
